It is derived from the stalk of the plant, and processed to create viscose. The fibres are made from cellulose from wood pulp. It is ground up and reacted with caustic soda. Viscose rayon may be produced from a variety of plants such as soy, bamboo, and sugar cane applying the same techniques as producing viscose.
